Tournament Reports – January 2011

Edmondson and McCord win C&R Seminole tournament.

GON Staff | January 1, 2011

An 11-boat C&R tournament in December on Seminole was won with 24.60 pounds. The second- and third-place C&R teams weighed in bags heavier than 20 pounds.

Robert Edmondson (left) and Stephen McCord, who helps GON with fishing reports, won the Dec. 4 C&R event at Seminole with these five fish, which went 24.60 pounds.

Several hundred miles north, the Dec. 11 Berry’s tournament was won with 15.88 pounds. They had 119 boats. It was on Sinclair.

Hmm… makes it pretty clear where I’d go, if I was seeking a place simply to fun fish.

“After the end of October all the way through February or March, it takes 24 to 28 pounds to win a tournament at Seminole,” said Clay Jons, C&R’s tournament director.

“Last year we had three (Seminole) tournaments won with over 28 pounds. We had a 28, a 30 and a 32. The year before that, we had a 30, a 32 and a 34. Seminole is so good.”

The bass weighed in during Clay’s Dec. 4 tournament bit Rat-L-Traps. The Trap bite will pick back up in January as temperatures climb back into the 50s.
