Wild Game Recipes: Cube Steak

GON Staff | June 3, 2014

You ever hear the expression that something is so good it’ll make you slap your mama? Well, if you cook this recipe, you better buckle down for a whuppin’ from daddy, because this is the best venison recipe you are ever going to have the pleasure of putting in your mouth. Period.

You’ll need:
venison steaks, cubed
Crisco cooking oil
flour
salt
pepper

This is so simple you aren’t going to believe it. And it is so good, you’ll have everybody begging for more. This has been a staple at our hunting club, and I promise you it will be at your house. Dip your cube steaks into flour, salt and pepper. Fry steaks in Crisco oil until they are browned, layer them into a crock pot and get ready to make some gravy. Use the left over drippings in your pan, add flour and enough water to fill up the pan and cook the mixture until it’s thick. Pour the gravy over the cube steaks in your crock pot and cook on low for six hours.
You can serve these steaks with mashed potatoes or over a bed of rice. It doesn’t matter how you do it, you’ll never have more tender venison for the rest of your days.
