Slow Cooker Venison Stroganoff

When it comes to wild game cooking, way too many hunters only have a few basic recipes. Deer chili. Venison spaghetti. Deer burgers. Digging the slow cooker out of the closet will open a whole new world. Try this easy recipe that will have your family and friends bragging on your skills.

1 lb. venison stew meat, cubed

3 tbsp. olive oil

1/2 stick of butter

1 large onion chopped

1/2 cup yellow mustard

32-oz. beef broth

1 cup sour cream

1 tbsp. all-purpose flour

1 can cream of mushroom soup

16-oz. egg noodles (uncooked)

Salt and pepper venison cubes. Place olive oil in cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Brown cubes and set aside. Add butter to skillet and melt. Add onions. Cook until opaque. Add flour and stir well. Add mustard and stir. Add beef broth and deglaze skillet. Pour into slow cooker. Add venison. Add uncooked egg noodles and stir well. Cook on low for eight hours. Add water if needed.
