No Change Yet To Snapper, Grouper Limits And Seasons

Limit reductions, season closures, new non-fishing areas — federal efforts to manage saltwater fish have recreational anglers confused, while charter captains question the data being cited for proposed restrictions. The bottom line for right now is this — Georgia snapper and grouper limits and seasons have not changed yet, and the fishing is excellent. At…

Anglers Eye Legislation To Protect Redfish

If a group of saltwater anglers and guides has its way, the red drum — Georgia’s state saltwater fish — will soon have the distinction of being the state’s first saltwater game fish. Mike Duckworth of Brunswick, along with well-known light-tackle guides, Capt. Greg Hildreth of Brunswick and Capt. Scott Wagner of Savannah, are spearheading…

Volunteers Improve Fish Habitat in Jekyll Island’s Public Saltwater Pond

Scattered along the Georgia coast are dozens of brackish ponds, both natural and man-made, that are fed saltwater and sea life through culverts and other connections to the tidal marshlands. They found some slack areas and were able to catch a good number of bluegill, warmouth, pickerel and a few bass up to 3 pounds. They caught a total of about 25 fish and fooled them with bumblebee and bruiser Satilla Spins. Seth Carter and a friend…
