Report Georgia Turkey Sightings Through WRD Poult Survey
DNR Press Release | June 6, 2025
You are invited to participate in Georgia’s annual turkey poult production survey (aka brood survey) during June, July and August.
How Does The Survey Help? This survey provides the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division experts with an index of both statewide and regional wild turkey reproduction.
See a Turkey, Log It! Participants record data related to all turkey poults, hens (with or without broods), and gobblers that are observed. You don’t need to make special efforts to locate turkeys, just record what you see in everyday activities. If, at the end of the month no turkeys were observed, you can record that in the survey. Do not log trail-camera observations, as these can bias the survey results.
Location Information: The survey includes a field to record the property name if on public land (like a WMA, or State Park or National Forest). If you use the map to select the observation point, you do not have to type in the public land name.
Want to See Past Survey Results? The Turkey Poult Dashboard contains several years of poults-per-hen estimates statewide and by physiographic region. The “Maps” Tab allows you to see the different geographic regions.
