Saltwater Fishing
This has been a banner year for flounder along the Georgia coast. Catches have been big in both size and numbers, and the bite is still running strong. Charles McGill of Middleburg, Fla. and I made a trip to the coast looking for some flounder in August and found a number of locations where almost…
The twin Yamaha 250s on the back of the big Contender offshore rig screamed as they came out of the water. In the next second the boat crashed into a 4-foot swell and leapt forward, at 45 mph, to meet the next wave which hit the bow almost immediately. We were racing back to the…

They also had five bowfin up to 8 pounds. Okefenokee Swamp: The fishing effort has been almost zero again this week on the east side. The best reports were for catfish on the west side (at the Sill). Putting shrimp on the bottom produced the best catches. The fish are there and will bite, and the water level is good for getting around (but not too high). The most recent water level (Folkston side) was 121.15 feet. Dodge PFA (near Eastman): Milton Jones from the Eastman area had a good…
