Apply Now for Youth/Adult Quail Hunts

Several farms participating in the Bobwhite Quail Initiative offer drawings for free hunts.

GON Staff | September 1, 2007

One of Georgia’s greatest outdoor traditions, hunting wild bobwhite quail, is becoming very difficult. A generation of young hunters is growing up with no knowledge of the quail-hunting legacy of our state.

This season, several youngsters will get the chance to hunt some of Georgia’s best remaining quail habitat through the Bobwhite Quail Initiative (BQI) hunts, and the youngsters drawn for the quail hunts get to bring an adult who can also hunt.

How To Apply: Apply by letter to the following address — Attn: Quota Quail Hunt, 116 Rum Creek Dr., Forsyth, GA 31029. Applications must include — hunt choices in priority order, full names, SSNs, addresses, dates of birth (for all hunters 10 – 17 years of age) and names and phone numbers of supervising adults. If you have a rejection letter from a previous year, please include this with the application. An adult supervisor must accompany each youth hunter. Party applications of two youth-adult pairs per hunt will be accepted. Hunters are encouraged to bring their own bird dogs, but in the event that this is not possible dogs may be provided.
