Saltwater Fishing
I had meticulously calculated tides, checked sunrise times, and pored over my fishing log trying to choose a time that would maximize our chance of catching the seatrout bite just right to have a triple-digit day. The unknown variable was wind, but I had even rearranged my schedule to allow four days where the tide…
Tournament—there’s something about that word that gets the blood moving in many anglers. The competition, the recognition, the camaraderie, and the possible winning purse all combine to make tournament fishing something special. Many bass anglers have fished in tournaments, from local club events all the way up to FLW and B.A.S.S. sanctioned affairs. But until the…
Flounder season is here, and the early run of fish in southeast Georgia has some flounder the size of doormats just waiting to be caught. The fish have migrated back inshore from their winter haunts to the sand around nearshore reefs and wrecks. Now is the time to cash in on some hard fighting and…

We caught half of them on a 1/16-oz Mirage Jig tipped with a minnow and half on a 1/32-oz. Tennessee Shad Specktacular Jig worked slowly. Jamie Hodge fished the lower river on Sunday and caught a couple dozen really nice crappie up to 1-lb., 10-oz. He spider-rigged minnows for his fish. The river rose all week and is at the edge of the floodplain again. Satilla River: Blake Edwards fished with me on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the…
