This is a very special month, no matter what you like to do. Cool Weather Trolling For Gator Seatrout

With the temperature on the field in Athens hovering in the mid 90s for a 5:30 GA vs SC nail-biter, it’s hard to imagine water cooling down, but it always does. By Georgia/Florida weekend the boat ramp parking lots up and down the coast will be as packed as the Gator Bowl RV City parking…

Map To Camden County Inshore Saltwater Fishing

Reading an article about saltwater fishing in Georgia generally means learning about catches either off- shore, or around the Brunswick or Savannah areas. Not that that’ s a bad thing, but there are a lot more places to fish along the coast than just those two or three locations. Five counties have a significant piece…

GON Goes To The Savannah Snapper Banks

Capt. Judy was on deck directing traffic —“Bring your line under this one — you guys bring your lines in.” At the center of the commotion on the rocking fishing boat was GON Editor Brad Gill, who had a white-knuckled, death-grip on a pool-cue-sized rod that was bent over the gunnels like he had hooked…

Altamaha River: The crappie bite was fantastic before water from the rains up-country hit this week. Brentz McGhin and I fished together on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the lower river and caught a bunch of fish. We had about 2 dozen—mostly crappie. Our biggest crappie was 1 1/4 pounds. We caught half of them on a 1/16-oz Mirage Jig tipped with a minnow and half on a 1/32-oz. Tennessee Shad Specktacular Jig worked slowly.  Jamie Hodge fished the lower river on Sunday and caught a couple dozen really nice crappie up to 1-lb., 10-oz. He spider-rigged minnows for his fish. The river rose all week and is at the edge of the floodplain again. Satilla River: Blake Edwards fished with me on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the…
