Lake Russell Fishing Report – September 2023

GON Staff | August 30, 2023

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: 85-89 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been a little tougher the last few weeks as the water temperature is the hottest it has been all year. We have still been catching some decent spotted bass when there is some current from generation, but when the water is not moving, you have to slow way down. The drop shot has been the most consistent technique rigged with a Zoom Swamp Crawler, Finesse worm, or Z-Drop. The key right now is locating schools of bait with my Lowrance and looking for bass close by. As we head into September, the fishing will stay about the same, unless we have some cooler weather. Then, you may see a little schooling activity early in the mornings. If the bass start chasing bait, I always have my Zoom Super Fluke ready to cast because you never know when or where they might show up.”
