Youth Dove Hunts At Lake Russell

Parents must call the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to register for hunt drawings.

Press Release | August 30, 2023

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, has two youth dove hunts scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16 and 23 at the Richard B. Russell Project Office.

For both hunts, a parent or guardian must accompany youth participants, ages 9-16, and will be permitted to hunt along with the youth hunter. Hunters will be selected by random drawing until the capacity is reached. To enter the drawing, hunters must call Brandon Dickey at 800.944.7207, ext. 3408, at the Russell Project Office no later than 4 p.m. on Sept. 8.

On the day of the hunt, all hunters must be checked in at the project office and must be licensed in accordance with existing Georgia Hunting Regulations, including the Migratory Bird Hunting License. The Georgia Waterfowl Migratory Bird License is required each season for all migratory bird hunters (doves, ducks, geese, woodcock, snipe, coots, rails, or gallinules) who are 16 and older. This stamp is how Georgia participates in the federal Harvest Information Program. State regulations and bag limits will be enforced.

Hunting dates are subject to change. However, if the dates must be changed, a News Release will be sent out, hunters already registered for the drawing will be notified, and the website will be updated.
