Lake Russell Fishing Report – September 2022

GON Staff | August 25, 2022

Russell: Level: 1 foot below 475. Temp: 80 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been good but is changing weekly with the unusually cool weather we are having. With the cooling water temperatures, the baitfish have been moving toward the creeks and the bass are close by as they transition from their summer locations. We are still catching some good bass on the jig and Zoom Ole Monster worm on the deeper drops, but this will slow down the next few weeks. As the water continues to cool, the crankbait will work good to cover water and catch aggressive fish as they ambush threadfin migrating back into the creeks and main-lake pockets. One of the things to look for in September is good water quality as the lake begins to turnover, so keep moving until you find active bait and bass.”
