Lake Russell Fishing Report – September 2010

GON Staff | August 25, 2010

Russell: Level: 0.9 feet below full pool. Temp: Low 90s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Good. If the water is moving, you can catch small spots. Bigger fish are still tough. Fish up Rocky River on points and humps. Crank a DD14 or DD22 with some chartreuse in it. You’re likly to catch small spots on any marker pole in the lake where you have 10-foot brush. Try a drop shot for these fish. At night, try the same types of areas with a Spot Remover, a jig or a big worm on a Texas rig. Some bigger fish are suspended in treetops in 10 to 15 feet of water over a deep bottom. Try the above-mentioned crankbaits. A schooling bite could occur as water temps cool off. Get out in the creeks over the timber, and throw Rat-L-Traps and flukes.
