Lake Russell Fishing Report – September 2009

GON Staff | August 25, 2009

Russell: Level: 9.4 feet below full pool. Temp: 84-88 degrees. Clarity: Stained mid-lake up; clear down the lake.

Bass:
Slow. “It’s tough,” said Trad Whaley. “During the week when they’re generating is stronger than weekends. Fish a Deep Little N on main-lake points on the Savannah. The fish are surprisingly a lot more shallow than past years. They’re 7 to 9 feet deep, and they’re more on rock than on brush. They’ve been biting jigs better than plastic. Last year they schooled more in September than I’ve ever seen. Get out in the creeks over the timber, like the mouth of Beaverdam. When bass get back there, it’ll be a pretty good bite on a Rat-L-Trap or fluke.”
