Lake Russell Fishing Report – October 2022

GON Staff | September 29, 2022

Russell: Level: 1.3 feet below 475. Temp: 75-80 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has slowed down some the last few weeks, and this should continue with the fall transition as the baitfish and bass are constantly on the move. The water clarity has also started changing in some areas of the lake, so the fall turnover will be happening this month, which will change the fishing weekly. This time of year you have to look for good water with baitfish present and move around a lot until you find the active bass. Also this time of year, moving baits like crankbaits, jerkbaits and spinnerbaits will be better to cover water and provoke reaction strikes. Early in the mornings look for the bass to be feeding on shad shallow in the pockets off the main lake and in the backs of the creeks. Later in the day, the bass seem to get more lethargic and that is when a drop shot with a Zoom Finesse worm is best for putting fish in the boat.”
