Lake Russell Fishing Report – November 2009

GON Staff | October 27, 2009

Russell: Level: 1.9 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 60s. Clarity: Mostly clear.

Bass:
Good for numbers, but the quality is poor, said Trad Whaley. “It’s taking 9 to 11 pounds to win a tournament. Fish are still schooling all over the lake, but they’re small. The herring have pulled out in the middle. The shallow bite is getting worse every year on this lake. I caught some on a Sammy in the creeks, but they were small. I also caught some on Rat-L-Traps on the flats, but they were small, too. The spotted bass are hurting the fishing for quality bass on Russell. The shad are in the backs of the creeks, so you can try a spinnerbait or Rat-L-Trap. I caught 15 fish the other day doing that, but they were all small.”
