Lake Russell Fishing Report – November 2008

GON Staff | October 28, 2008

Russell: Level: 2.1 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 60s. Clarity: Clear

Bass: Improving, according to Terry “T.J.” Johnson. “The largemouths are back in the creeks and pockets,” said T.J. “Try a crankbait like a Little Earl or a DT 4 or DT 6 or Normans Baby N. A 1/4-oz. spinnerbait in chartreuse and white is also a good bait right now. Hit rocky points that lead into a pocket. For spots, hit main-lake points near any standing timber with a spinnerbait or one of the bigger crankbaits. There has been some schooling going on, and if the fish are up, they will hit a Creek Chub or a Zara Spook.

Crappie: Good, said T.J. “The fish are in brush 8 to 10 feet deep and hitting minnows. There have been some pretty good slabs caught recently. Bridge pilings are producing, too.”
