Lake Russell Fishing Report – May 2019

GON Staff | April 30, 2019

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: 70 degrees. Clarity: Clear except for some stain in the major creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been good, and they are biting in all areas of the lake right now. The majority of the fish have spawned and are beginning to filter out to the secondary points and main-lake points to feed on shad and herring. Early in the mornings a topwater bait and a Zoom Super Fluke are the go-to lures, especially during the herring spawn. When activity slows during the day, a Carolina-rigged Zoom lizard will continue to be productive in these same areas. There will still be some fish shallow in the creeks, and a Texas-rigged worm or jig around blowdowns and timber is good for some largemouth.”
