Lake Russell Fishing Report May 2015

GON Staff | April 30, 2015

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: 65-69 degrees. Clarity: Clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass:
Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been good, and there are several patterns working right now. There are still a few fish bedding with the full moon approaching, but this should be the last wave of the spawn. The blueback herring are also spawning, so there have been a lot of postspawn bass up shallow feeding, and you can catch them early on a Zoom Super Fluke or topwater bait. After the sun gets up, the bass will still be around the points but not very aggressive, so you can slow down with a Carolina rig and catch them around brush and rocks. As we get further into May, the bass will begin to migrate more to deeper water and start setting up on the deeper points, and you can catch them on a drop shot or Carolina rig.”
