Lake Russell Fishing Report – March 2024

GON Staff | February 28, 2024

Russell: Level: 1.8 below 475. Temp: 52-55 degrees. Clarity: Clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “Most of the fish are in main-lake pockets and ditches toward the mouth of the creeks feeding up on baitfish. With the warmer days, the fish should move shallow in the creeks and on main lake and secondary points staging to spawn. Once the fish move shallow, you can catch a lot of bass on secondary points leading into spawning pockets on crankbaits, jerkbaits and a Zoom Carolina-rigged lizard.  The creeks will also start to heat up in March, and a jig, crankbait or a spinnerbait will be good ways to catch some big largemouth.”
