Lake Russell Fishing Report June 2017

GON Staff | June 1, 2017

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: 75-78 degrees. Clarity: Clear on main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fish are scattered right now with some fish still shallow, and some making the transition to their normal summer patterns. The majority of the fish we are catching are between 10 to 20 feet deep, and they are biting crankbaits and Carolina-rigged green-pumpkin Trick Worms or lizards. There are still some topwater fish active early in the mornings on long, main-lake points and shoals, but this bite slows down by 10 or 11. As we move into the hotter days this month, expect more fish to be active deep, and this is when a drop shot and a shaky head work really well. For the bigger fish this month, use a Zoom Ol’ Monster worm either Texas or Carolina rigged and a jig around brush and timber.”
