Lake Russell Fishing Report June 2015

GON Staff | May 28, 2015

Russell: Level: 1.1 feet below full pool. Temp: 80 degrees. Clarity: Clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass:
Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing on Russell has been tougher than normal the last two weeks with largemouth almost nonexistent. You can catch a few fish early on the main-lake points and shoals, and then it’s a grind to catch a few spotted bass. The spotted bass are being caught mostly on a drop shot with a small worm and a Carolina-rigged Trick Worm or finesse worm around rocks and brush off the points. There are a few fish in the timber in 15 to 20 feet of water, and you can catch them on a Texas-rigged U-tail worm in green pumpkin, but you have to fish really slow. As we go into June, I expect the baitfish and the bass to move out deeper onto the channel drops around points and timber.” For a full feature article with 10 June locations marked by Carter McNeil, see page 22.
