Lake Russell Fishing Report – June 2010

GON Staff | May 26, 2010

Russell: Level: 0.6 feet below full pool. Temp: High 70s to low 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Fair. First thing in the morning, there’s been some topwater action. For spotted bass, hit the rocky points down the lake where you find some baitfish activity or see them on the electrontics. Try a Pop-R style topwater or a Spro Dawg walking bait. Once the sun gets up, use a green-pumpkin finesse jig on these same rocky points, especially in brushpiles 12 to 18 feet deep. Also check for bluebacks spawning on the rocks in the Hwy 72 area. Use a white spinnerbait or a topwater plug like a Sammy or Rico. The best daytime bite this month will be on main-lake points with Carolina-rigged worms and crankbaits. Fish the reef markers.
