Lake Russell Fishing Report July 2012

GON Staff | June 27, 2012

Russell: Level: 1 foot below full pool. Temp: 83 to 88 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Good. Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing has been getting better the last couple of weeks. The bass started to migrate to the deep drops off the points and humps toward the main lake. The late evening and night bite has really picked up especially if there is some current. We have been catching a few on the drop shot during the day using a Zoom Finesse Worm, but it’s hard to find the better fish. The bigger largemouths seem to be tight to cover in the major creeks, and some days you can catch them using a jig or Texas-rigged worm. There have been a few fish schooling on small threadfin shad late in the evening, and you can catch them with the Zoom Super Fluke. I expect this bite to pick up as the bass begin suspending near the creek channels with the hotter summer days ahead.”
