Lake Russell Fishing Report – January 2023

GON Staff | December 23, 2022

Russell: Level: Full pool at 475. Temp: Mid 50s. Clarity: Clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing is still good and should continue to get better as the baitfish and bass begin to bunch up with the water finally cooling down closer to normal. The last couple weeks, we have been catching a lot of fish on spoons in ditches around 25 to 35 feet deep. The baitfish are still pretty scattered right now, so you just have to keep moving around until you find some active fish. As we move into January, the bigger bass should start showing up and can be caught on spoons and Alabama rigs around deep drops and timber.”
