Lake Russell Fishing Report – January 2020

GON Staff | December 31, 2019

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid 50s. Clarity: Clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing on Lake Russell is still good and should continue to get better as it gets colder and as the baitfish and bass begin to bunch up as the water finally cools down closer to normal temps. The last couple weeks we have been catching a lot of fish on spoons, drop shots and jigs on points and ditches in 25 to 35 feet. The baitfish are still pretty scattered right now, so you just have to keep moving around until you find some active fish. As we move into January, the bigger bass should start showing up and can be caught on spoons and Alabama Rigs around deep drops and timber.”
