Lake Russell Fishing Report January 2019

GON Staff | December 23, 2018

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: Low 50s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing is still pretty good, but the water is stained in a lot of areas, so that is hurting the fishing some. Most of the fish we have been catching are 20 to 30 feet deep around rocks and timber. The baitfish are starting to bunch up pretty good with the cooler water temps, so if the water will clear up some, they will really be biting. We are catching most of the bass on drop shots, spoons and jigs on points and ditches on the main lake and at the mouths of the creeks. If you are fishing Russell, stop by Sportsman Supply in Elberton and see Dave. He can help you get the lures you need and tell you what the fish are biting each week.”
