Lake Russell Fishing Report – February 2024

GON Staff | January 31, 2024

Russell: Level: 0.2 below 475. Temp: Upper 40s. Clarity: The main lake is stained, and the creeks are muddy.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing has been decent considering the severe cold and flooding. Most of the bass are set up in their winter pattern around baitfish in 25 to 35 feet of water. With the water cooled off below 50, I either fish a drop shot or jigging spoon until the fish get active. If the bass are aggressive and feeding on bait, a Blade Runner with a Zoom Fluke and an Alabama rig with a Swimmin Fluke Jr. are good. As we move into February, the bass will begin staging on the points and humps, especially later in the month. As the creeks begin to warm up and clear up a little, the crankbait or spinnerbait will start catching some big largemouth.”
