Lake Russell Fishing Report – February 2023

GON Staff | January 26, 2023

Russell: Level: 0.3 feet below 475. Temp: Mid 50s. Clarity: Clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing has been good, and you can catch some big fish right now, as well as multiple species. This time of year can be feast or famine, but when you find them, a jigging spoon and an A-rig is hard to beat. With the warmer days and increasing daylight, some of the bigger females will begin to move up in the ditches and creeks, so I like to throw a Blade Runner with a Zoom Fluke or Z Swim in these areas. If we have a warming trend, I also like to throw a crankbait and Chatterbait in these areas around rocks and wood. As we head into February, the creeks and major spawning pockets will begin to load up with big prespawn bass, and some of the biggest catches of the year will start showing up.”
