Lake Russell Fishing Report February 2016

GON Staff | January 28, 2016

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: Low 50s. Clarity: Stained to muddy in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament pro Kerry Partain reports, “Most the lake is still stained, and the recent rains have put the water level high again for this time of year. There have been some big bass caught lately with the dams moving more water than usual. Bass can be caught on Carolina rigs and jigs off the points and humps on the main lake, and also at the mouths of major creek arms. There are some fish in the ditches and in the big pockets around shad, and they can be caught on jigging spoons and a drop shot. February will be a good month for catching big females as they begin to make their transition shallow, and you can catch them on crankbaits and spinnerbaits in the creeks.”
