Lake Russell Fishing Report – February 2009

GON Staff | January 27, 2009

Russell: Level: 4.3 feet below full pool. Temp: 55 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Fair. Terry Johnson reports: “I got out a little bit this morning (Jan. 26), and the water was 55 degrees right before we left. It shocked me it was that warm. The bass are out deep in the middle of the creeks and river, and most are being caught on spoons and bucktails under the birds. Any day now they should start pulling up on creek ledges and longer points. I’ll be looking for something that drops straight off into the channel. The boat may be sitting in 60 feet of water, and you’re throwing up in 16 to 18 feet of water. Use a jig ’n pig and a shaky head.”
