Lake Russell Fishing Report – December 2022

GON Staff | November 28, 2022

Russell: Level: 0.9 feet below 475. Temp: 60 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been really good the last couple of weeks, and this should continue through December.  There has been a lot of baitfish suspended in 20 to 40 feet of water, and the bass are starting to feed up heavily on the shad. I use my Lowrance electronics to locate large schools of bait and then search around for active bass throughout the pods of baitfish. Once you find these areas, you can catch fish on several different presentations, and my favorites are a drop shot with a Zoom Z-drop or finesse worm, a jigging spoon and a Derailer Baits A-rig with a Zoom Z Swim 3.8 or Swimming Super Fluke Jr. This is one of my favorite times of year because the lakes are not crowded and the fish are biting.”
