Lake Russell Fishing Report December 2012

GON Staff | November 28, 2012

Russell: Level: 3.3 feet below full pool. Temp: 60-62 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Excellent. Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing just keeps getting better for quantity of fish, but quality is hard to find. The bass are really stacked up right now, and it is common to catch 10 to 20 bass off one spot, but they are all 1 to 2 pounds and mostly spotted bass. The drop shot and Carolina rig seem to be the lure of choice right now, but we have been catching some on the jigging spoon early in the morning. The baitfish are really stacked now into the creeks, pockets and major ditches, so keep your eye on your electronics. The bait and bass are anywhere from 20 to 40 feet deep and fairly easy to catch once located. As the water temp begins to cool down below 60 degrees this month, expect the jigging-spoon bite to really improve.”
