Lake Russell Fishing Report – August 2023

GON Staff | July 26, 2023

Russell: Level: 0.9 below 475. Temp: Upper 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing has been good the last few weeks as the bait and bass have gotten into their normal summer pattern. This time of year most of the bass are in 15 to 25 feet of water near drop-offs, so points, humps and timber are good areas to start. When you find the baitfish, the bass are usually close-by on some type of structure, so I rely on my Lowrance electronics to locate these areas. We have been catching them on  shaky heads and jigs during the day and Texas-rigged Zoom Ole Monster worms later in the evenings. As we head into August, these patterns and lures should continue to produce along with a drop shot for the tough days.”
