Sam Moody, of Albany, won the ABA Bass Pro Shops Open Series Georgia Division tournament held June 13 on Lake Oconee. Running out of Sugar Creek Marina, Sam caught five bass weighing 15.87 pounds, including a 5.98 kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Moody took home a check for $2,400 for his win.

“I was fishing the south end of the lake today. I caught a few on topwater in the morning, and the rest of the day I threw a Carolina-rig on points,” Sam said.

In second for the boaters was Scott Hayes, of Newnan, who landed a five-bass tournament limit going 15.59 pounds, which included the big bass that weighed 6.11 pounds.

“I caught my fish flipping docks all day. I caught a few fish in the morning, but in the last 1 1/2 hours, I caught that big bass and a few better fish,” Scott said.

Brian Jamison, of Greensboro, took third for the boaters with five bass going 14.34 pounds.

“I also caught my fish flipping in dirty water. It was a grind all day,” Brian said.

Austin Martin (left), of Gray, and Tremaine Dent, of Haddock, won the 5th Annual Brandon Key Catfishing Tournament with a five-fish limit of 94 pounds. They also had big fish for the tournament, a 31-lb. blue cat. All total, the pair collected $5,300 in the 42-boat tournament.
