Poole Back As State Duck Calling Champ
The nation's elite duck callers, including five state champions and a current world champion, competed for three titles in Macon during the Outdoor Blast.

Three past Georgia state champions, a South Carolina state champ, the two-time Florida champion and the current World Live Duck Champion… Those are just a few of the titles held by the amazing group of competition duck callers that came to Macon to compete during GON’s Outdoor Blast.
Up for grabs were state-championship titles in the Georgia State Duck Calling Contest, which sends a Georgia caller to the World’s Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Ark., the Georgia State Meat Contest and the Georgia State Two-Man contest.
After winning the Georgia State contest in 2009, Chad Poole, of Soperton, is heading back to Stuttgart with another state championship under his belt. Chad blew a Refuge call to beat a field of 14 that included two past Georgia state champions. Chad’s three-round total score was 775. Second place went to Jacob Fortner, 23, of Lawrenceville, with a score of 769. Two-time state champion Clint Shipman, of Byron, placed third with a score of 768.
The 2011 Georgia State Meat Championship may be the most prestigious title of the late-summer calling circuit based on the elite field of 14 that competed. The winner with a score of 791 was Antonio “Duckman” Jones, of Little Rock, Ark. Second and third place tied after three rounds and was decided by a call-off. Three-time World’s Championship finalist Keith Allen, of Scott City, Mo., took second and current World Live Duck Champion Trevor Shannahan placed third.
