Ken Ross Wins 30-30 Ministries $1K Shoot-Out
GON Staff | July 31, 2024
Ken Ross, of Newnan, found himself with an additional $1,000 after attending GON’s Ag-Pro Outdoor Blast in Emerson over the weekend. He was this year’s winner in the 30-30 Ministries $1K Shoot-Out where contestants shot a pellet rifle at raw eggs.
Two qualifying rounds earlier on Saturday, July 27 gave time for 97 Outdoor Blast show-goers to shoot from a distance of 45 feet and move on to the final round—a 60-foot shot—at 4 p.m. For both qualifying rounds, all participants paid $10 for three shots at the egg, and 47 of them connected and moved to the finals.
In the finals, contestants were given just one shot at an egg from 60 feet. The shot proved very difficult, with 39 of the 47 missing their one-shot opportunity. With just eight participants connecting, it was time for Round 2—the same shot at the same distance. Ken Ross was the only one to make an egg mess at 60 feet in Round 2, and he won the $1,000.
“We see incredible value in our partnership with GON,” said Tony Smith, a Camp Manager for 30-30 Ministries. “We use this event at the Outdoor Blast as a way for folks to learn about us, to sign their kids up for a weekend Camp with us or maybe even hear more about how they can host a youth hunting or fishing Camp with us some day. We had several possible future Camps come out of just hosting the $1K Shoot-Out. That’s incredibly valuable to us. Plus, we know GON stands for Christian values with a focus on the family and kids. It’s a win-win partnership for us, and we hope to continue that through the years.”
The 2024 Ag-Pro Outdoor Blast was presented by Dallas Safari Club (DSC).
