Marty Fischer Wins 1990 Georgia State Duck Calling Championship

GON Staff | September 27, 1990

Marty Fischer, of Kennesaw, has been named the 1990 Georgia State Duck Calling Champion. It’s his second state title. Marty also won the state competition in 1987.

The Georgia Slate and Southeastern Regional Duck Calling Championships were held a week ago Saturday at the Cherokee Rose Sporting Clays in Griffin in conjunction with a Ducks Unlimited Sporting Clays Championship.

Dean Williams, of Dunwoody, placed second, and Dan Kennerly, of Lilburn, finished third. The top three callers all used Rich-N-Tone calls.

Each caller was judged on his 90-second routine which included the four basic calls: the hail call, the feeding call, the come-back call, and the call of a lonesome hen or mating call.

The Southeast Regional was won bv Kent Cullum, of Monette, Arkansas.

Marty qualifies to represent Georgia in the 1990 World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest on Nov. 24, 1990 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Georgia will have two callers at the Stuttgart competition. Another former stale champion, Charles Petty, of Lithonia, has also qualified for the World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest.

For the second time, Marty Fisher earned the honor of Georgia’s top duck caller. Marty won this award for his 1990 title, and he also won in 1987.
