GON’s Outdoor Weekend Is Back at the Gwinnett Center

GON is heading back to the Gwinnett Center to host the Outdoor Blast, our annual kick-off to hunting season. This year’s Outdoor Blast will be July 24-26. The Gwinnett Center is a clean, well air-conditioned facility right off I-85 in a very nice area of Duluth.

The Outdoor Blast will again feature hundreds of hunting and fishing vendors offering products for deer season. GON does not allow vendors unless they have outdoor-related products, so you won’t see the flea-market, foot-massage and vacation-marketing booths that dominate other events.

Highlights of this year’s Outdoor Blast include a return of the Gun-An-Hour-Giveaway. Every hour on the hour, a name will be drawn, and the winner will pick up their new gun right there and take it home. There will be 21 guns to be given away during the weekend. Also, the Wall of Fame, a display of the state’s best bucks from last season, will be at the Outdoor Blast.

Friday evening at 6 p.m., the weekly winners in GON’s Youth Big-Buck Contest will shoot for a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors and a Woods-N-Water dream hunt.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Blast will host the annual Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. Watch the drama unfold as a pellet-rifle competition decides who drives off in a new John Megel Chevy truck.
