4th Annual Unicoi Call Makers Show Is Jan. 11-12

GON Staff | December 15, 2018

Some of the best turkey call makers in the country are convening at the lodge at Unicoi State Park on Friday and Saturday Jan. 11-12 for the 4th annual Unicoi Call Makers Show.

Some 75 call makers from across the South and as far away as Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania will be offering their hand-crafted turkey calls, custom knives, custom call pouches and bags. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

A buffet dinner is planned for Friday night, followed by a roundtable discussion on pot calls. Other highlights of the weekend include Larry Proffitt on location who will be selling his new book, “Letters To My Grandsons.”

Also, a pair of regular GON contributors will be at the show. Herb McClure will be autographing his popular book, “Native Turkeys,” and author Duncan Dobie will be autographing his book about the man who protected and built the native turkey population in Blue Ridge WMA, “Arthur Woody and the Legend of the Barefoot Ranger.”
