Lake Eufaula
Lake Eufaula, also known as Walter F. George Lake, named for the United States Senator from Georgia, is formed on the Chattahoochee River along the state line between Alabama and Georgia. Eufaula has long been a great fishing lake, especially for largemouth bass. The town of Eufaula, Ala. is home to Mann's Bait Company and Humminbird Electronics. The 46,000-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake extends north about 85 miles from the Walter F. George Lock and Dam and has approximately 640 miles of shoreline.

The reports were as varied as the weather this week. The best reports came from ponds and the Okefenokee Swamp. Saltwater was hit-and-miss. The southeast Georgia rivers are still high but are falling now that the leaves have budded out and the trees are pulling more water. St. Marys River: The Temple Landing is currently closed while the WRD boat ramp crew rebuilds the ramp. The ramp itself is complete, and the crew is working to improve the parking area. The project is winding down, and it should reopen in early April if weather and river levels cooperate (which they are currently not doing). Okefenokee Swamp: Mike and Matt Rouse fished the east side of the Okefenokee on Saturday in the cool, super-windy weather and still caught fish. They had a few warmouth and fliers on black sparkle/chartreuse Warmouth Whacker Jigs. They also caught a couple bowfin by flinging crawfish-brass…

Two anglers who call Georgia home are among the 10 anglers who made the final day cut to fish for the $100,000 top prize and a Bassmasters Elite Series title at Lake Eufaula. Drew Benton, who moved to Blakely last year, enters the final day in 8th place, and Buddy Gross, of Chickamauga, just made…
Conventional wisdom says a tournament held on Lake Eufaula during 90-degree weather in June should be won offshore on the ledges. But Bill Lowen isn’t buying it. He never buys that anywhere B.A.S.S. takes him. The Indiana pro who cut his teeth fishing the shallow waters of the Ohio River stayed near the shoreline during…
Finally, after the longest unplanned break in B.A.S.S. history due to COVID-19 precautions, the Bassmaster Elite Series will resume tournament action next week June 10-13, 2020. Perhaps fittingly, the schedule’s restart point will be at one of the most storied lakes in professional bass fishing history. The DEWALT Bassmaster Elite at Lake Eufaula will feature…
Bass in the grass, and bass feeding on channel drops. Eufaula is full of 3- to 5-lb. bass, and they have been on fire this year. In June, you can catch Eufaula bass both shallow or deep—it really just depends on the way you prefer to fish. Eufaula is known as “The Bass Capitol of…
Even though the calendar reads May, Lake Eufaula crappie guide Tony Adams is already experiencing around-the-clock “summer” fishing on the big Chattahoochee River impoundment on the Georgia-Alabama border. Like most anglers, Tony takes advantage of the late-winter and early spring migration of crappie to their shallow spawning areas, plucking huge numbers of fish from the…
