Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula, also known as Walter F. George Lake, named for the United States Senator from Georgia, is formed on the Chattahoochee River along the state line between Alabama and Georgia. Eufaula has long been a great fishing lake, especially for largemouth bass. The town of Eufaula, Ala. is home to Mann's Bait Company and Humminbird Electronics. The 46,000-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake extends north about 85 miles from the Walter F. George Lock and Dam and has approximately 640 miles of shoreline.

Eufaula: Level: 0.5 feet above 188. Temp: 82 degrees. Clarity: Stained. Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The water level is still holding steady. The shallow bite is getting better by the day. Where you can find pads and grass, the frog has come into play again. Blade baits are also getting attention. Texas-rigged soft plastics are working along the edges. Senkos and Trick Worms in red shad and black and blue plus watermelon candy are good colors to work. The deeper bass are scattered near natural and man-made structure. Use lipped crankbaits geared for the depth you find bass in. Shad colors and sexy shad have been good, and the blue-backed crystal glow finish is good on a sunny day.
