Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula, also known as Walter F. George Lake, named for the United States Senator from Georgia, is formed on the Chattahoochee River along the state line between Alabama and Georgia. The 46,000-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake extends north about 85 miles from the Walter F. George Lock and Dam and has approximately 640 miles of shoreline.

By GON Staff | January 29, 2025

Eufaula: Level: Full at 190. Temp: 52 degrees. Clarity: Slight stain. Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “This extremely cold winter weather and snow have these fish totally confused and deep where there is warmer water. They will cruise around the causeways and banks up river searching for baitfish where there is rock structure on the banks. If your electronics show fish, repeat the presentation over and over, sort of the way you tease a bedding bass. They are lethargic, they are not burning energy and needing food. If you find the deeper fish, working a horizontal jig amongst them may cause a strike. As this water warms, the bank fishing will be good…
