Lake Eufaula
Lake Eufaula, also known as Walter F. George Lake, named for the United States Senator from Georgia, is formed on the Chattahoochee River along the state line between Alabama and Georgia. Eufaula has long been a great fishing lake, especially for largemouth bass. The town of Eufaula, Ala. is home to Mann's Bait Company and Humminbird Electronics. The 46,000-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake extends north about 85 miles from the Walter F. George Lock and Dam and has approximately 640 miles of shoreline.

Eufaula: Level: 1.5 feet above 188. Temp: 58 degrees. Clarity: Heavy stain. Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The lake is holding steady, even after an additional 8-plus inches last week. The temperature swings are giving our fish a fit. We have experienced nights in the mid 20s and afternoons in the 70s. The afternoon shallow bite is working with creature baits and Texas-rigged finesse worms worked very slow. The rip-rap along the causeways and railroad trestles are holding daytime heat and fish. Deeper fish, staged on structure, are also needing to be aggravated into a strike. Jigs, tipped with creature baits, worked vertically among them will work or a big soft plastic on a Carolina rig will cause some action. Darker worms with a colored tail is a good bet. Dip all your plastics in J.J’s Magic in this dirty water. It does make a…

Understanding bass movement on a specific lake gives anglers a big advantage. It’s a foregone conclusion that largemouth bass move to the shallows to spawn when the water starts to warm back up. The next movement is a little harder to track, but postspawn bass can be real hungry after they’ve had time to rest…
Lake Eufaula is a legendary bass lake, and GON was fortunate to talk a legendary bass fisherman, Jackie Thompson, into revealing the best ways to catch bass on the lake right now. Jackie even marked a map with 10 late-fall, early winter hotspots to get you going for a good day of catching bass. Eufaula is…
Fall is a great time of year for the crappie angler in Georgia.
