Lake Russell Fishing Report – March 2022

GON Staff | February 24, 2022

Russell: Level: 1 foot below full. Temp: 52-55 degrees. Clarity: Main lake is clear but stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been good the last couple of weeks and should continue to get better with the warmer weather. There are still a lot of fish out deep in 25 to 30 feet on the main-lake points and ditches. The deeper fish have been biting drop shots with a Zoom Finesse worm and jigs. For the ditch fish, throw a Fish Head Spin rigged with a Zoom Fluke. Some of the bass are beginning to move shallow on secondary points in the pockets and in the creeks, which should improve the next week with the warming trend. As the water rises into the upper 50s, the bass will begin to migrate to the spawning areas where faster-moving lures like jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and crankbaits will come into play.”
