Lake Russell Fishing Report – June 2022

GON Staff | May 27, 2022

Russell: Level: Full at 475. Temp: 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing has been tough the last couple of weeks with most of the bass being in the postspawn funk. We have been catching a few fish on topwater, but that bite seems to be dying faster than normal. The best thing right now seems to be dragging a worm around secondary and main-lake points, but these fish are typically smaller. As we head into June, a lot of the bass will be transitioning into their summer pattern on points, humps and standing timber. When this happens, I like to throw big Texas-rigged worms, like the Zoom Mag II and Ole Monster or a jig. There will still be some fish shallow in the main creeks, especially around bream beds, but they can be finicky about what lure they will bite.”
