Lake Russell Fishing Report – January 2022

GON Staff | January 1, 2022

Russell: Level: Full pool at 475. Temp: 55 to 60 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The water has finally cleared up from the turnover and the fish are biting.  We have been catching most of our fish on main-lake points and in ditches using a variety of baits. The key this time of year is finding the bait and the easiest way to do that is to follow the loons and seagulls, which have shown up in full force the last couple of weeks. Once you find an area with bait, the fish will be close by, so use your electronics to find the bass. The best baits have been Alabama rigs, jigging spoons, jigs, drop shots and Blade Runners rigged with a Zoom Fluke.”
