Lake Russell Fishing Report – December 2021

GON Staff | November 25, 2021

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: 60 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has turned on this week with the water cooling off and starting to clear up from the turnover. The good thing about fishing this time of year is the bass are feeding up. You have the lake to yourself, and you can catch them shallow or deep. For the shallow largemouth, we have been catching them on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits and jigs. On the deeper fish, we have been using Alabama rigs, jigging spoons and a drop shot. The key has been finding the bait on our Lowrance electronics and then searching around those areas for active fish. The birds have also begun to show up on the lake, so keep your eye out for seagulls, and the fish will be close by.”
