Lake Russell Fishing Report – December 2020

GON Staff | November 29, 2020

Russell: Level: 0.3 feet low. Temp: 65 degrees. Clarity: Stain in much of the lake.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “Not much has changed from last month. The water is the warmest I have ever seen for late November, so the bass are scattered both shallow and deep. We are still catching a lot of bass, and almost all of them are around big schools of bait. For the shallow bass chasing bait, a jerkbait has been more reliable than anything else. There seems to be more deep fish in the pockets and ditches, and I troll around watching my Lowrance looking for both bait and bass. Once a school is located, you can catch them pretty fast on a drop shot and a shaky head. If the water cools down in December, a jigging spoon will also be a good lure to add to the arsenal.”
