Lake Russell Fishing Report – November 2019

Russell: Level: 1 foot low. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: Stained in some areas.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The lake is turning over, so the fishing is a little tough right now. There will always be a few areas on the lake that the fish will be biting during turnover and that can change from day to day.  The baitfish are also making their fall migration, so the fish will be transitioning with them. This time of year you have to move around to find active fish feeding on bait and stick with them. Early in the morning, you can catch a few bigger fish on buzzbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs, especially around rocks and wood. Later in the day if this pattern begins change, you can search for baitfish in deeper water and catch fish on a drop shot, Blade-Runner and a jigging spoon. Later in the month the water should begin to stabilize and clear up from the turnover, and the fishing will be real good as the bass begin to feed up for the winter.”
