The Ag-Pro Outdoor Blast recently announced it will be hosting the GON Youth Shoot-Out at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 29.

“What a great way to kick-off three days of celebrating the great sport of deer hunting,” said Mike Rhodes, GON’s publisher and advertising director.

For parents of those in the GON Youth Shoot-Out, it can be an anxious event. However, kids have made it to the Rolaid tablet every year. That’s a tough shot for any adult to make!

The Outdoor Blast is Metro Atlanta’s No. 1 hunting and outdoors show and will take place July 29-31 at the 170,000-square-foot Champions Center at the LakePoint Sports Complex north of Atlanta in Emerson.

The special youth-only Shoot-Out can be viewed by anyone purchasing a ticket to get inside the Outdoor Blast.

The best shot in the GON Youth Shoot-Out will win a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors and a weekend hunting trip to Woods-N-Water.

All weekly winners will be wearing a personalized Shoot-Out jersey from Realtree, plus they will receive a cooler from Rugged Road Outdoors, and an awesome LockedOn 360 Mobile Gun Vise—a super tool for safe and more effective hunting for all ages, but especially kids.

Youth contestants will be shooting a Daisy 499B Champion BB gun, the same BB gun used across the nation in 4-H competitions. Targets get progressively harder and go from a full-sized skeet, to a raw egg, to a mini Nilla wafer and finally a Rolaid tablet.

2021 Dream Trip To Adventure Outdoors

“We’ve watched these kids get down to the Rolaid tablet every year,” said Rhodes. “Amazing to me how good some of our kids can shoot. Even with $3,000 and a dream hunting trip on the line, some of these kids seem to have nerves of steel.”

Chris Sagar with 4-H is GON’s official gun handler for the Youth Big-Buck Shoot-Out. Chris is a 4-H National Certified Rifle Instructor. Chris leads training sessions for adults who are working with youth in the various rifle programs and is an adult 4-H volunteer in Forsyth County and the chief range officer for 4-H Target Challenge Weekend BB match.
